Dartmoor Christian Camp is run by the folk at Whipton Chapel in conjunction with other Christians from Belmont Hall in Harrow. The aim is to give kids who attend our weekly Friday Club an exciting, fun, action packed holiday at an affordable price. Children must be aged 10 to 17 to attend. This is a residential camp located at the fantastic Heatree Activity Centre, Manaton on beautiful Dartmoor approximately 40 minutes south of Exeter. Click here to visit Heatree Activity Centre During the week the adults and children split into teams and participate in activities, sports, swimming, walks, quiet times, camp circles and a treasure hunt across the beautiful moorland. It’s a busy week so we also have a restful day at the beach. Activities Heatree offer a range of activities including kayaking, high ropes, mountain biking, low adventure, climbing tower to name but a few. Each year the children do five activities and collect points for their teams - points mean prizes! We also run a number of different activities off-site, such as a late night walk and a game of 'hunt the officer' in the local village of Ashburton Sports The teams can also collect points by participating in sports. We do two different sports in the evenings. In the past we have done rounders, danish long-ball and hockey. This year we ran dodgeball and our own, interesting, version of tag! Quiet Times & Camp Circles Each morning we split into small groups and learn about a story from the Bible. We take this time every day to think about how important God's word is and how we can learn lessons from it. These quiet times are coupled every evening with a camp circle where we sing songs and think about another story from the Bible. This year we studied Elisha in our quiet times and different trees in the camp circles. Weather permitting we also tend to spend one of these camp circles out under the stars around the camp fire! The incredible surroundings, fun activities and opportunities available always make camp a great week to come along to.
